LOVE & THEFT and 12 YEARS in competition at the Animation Festival Stuttgart

We have finished three new short films: LOVE & THEFT by Andreas Hykade, 12 YEARS by Daniel Nocke, and MILK MILK LEMONADE by Ged Haney. All three films have been premiered on 24th February in the Stuttgart movie theatre, CINEMA. Here are some pictures of the event.

TOM wins Grimme Award!

The online TOM has won a prestigious Grimme Online Award. The award, in the category of Culture and Entertainment, went to Kindernetz for www.kindernetz.de/tom. The Tomportal was created and directed by Andreas Hykade and produced here at Studio FILM BILDER.

Studio FILM BILDER is 20!

Ever since 1989 we've been creating our own animated world of ideas, images and stories. We recently celebrated our twentieth anniversary at Schocken - Stuttgart's top nightspot - during the Stuttgart Animation Festival. Click here to see some photographs. As part of our twentieth anniversary several festivals will be showing retrospective programmes of FILM BILDER's work. The Filmfest Dresden and the Stuttgart Animation Festival have already started the celebrations and our festival tour will continue in Annecy and Ottawa.


November 2007
"The Runt" by Andreas Hykade wins the German Short Film Award for the best animated short. Minister of Culture Bernd Neumann gives the "Golden Lola" to producer Thomas Meyer-Hermann at a ceromony in Potsdam-Babelsberg.


September 2007
The Bunjies will give the first public performance of their new hit "Bunjy Up Yourself" at Cartoon Forum in Girona.They are looking forward to beginning work on their first TV series, which will be directed by Ged Haney and Andreas Hykade.

TOM is moving forward. The German Channel "Kinderkanal" shows two episodes of "TOM & the slice of bread with strawberry jam & honey" every Saturday and Sunday. Starting on 27 th August, for one month, the channel will show two episodes of TOM every morning.


June 2007
"The Runt" by Andreas Hykade wins the FIPRESCI Award at the festival in Annecy. The "Festival international de film d'animation" takes place every year in the little town in the French alps and is the most important animation festival in the world. The FIPRESCI Award is given by the international federation of film journalists.


May 2007
"The Runt" celebrates yet more success. The Film wins the Grand Prix for the best film at AniFest 2007 in Trebon, Czech Republic. It is also part of a show of Andreas Hykades' works at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Two prestigious awards for the two new shorts by Studio Film Bilder: the "Short Tiger" of FFA (German film funding organisation) for
"No Room for Gerold" by Daniel Nocke and the Grand Prix for animation at the festival "Black Nights" in Tallinn for "The Runt" by Andreas Hykade.


August 2006
Studio FILM BILDER is currently producing the layouts for THE THREE ROBBERS. The animated feature is based on the famous children's book by Tomi Ungerer. The film is produced by
Animation X and will be released in the fall of 2007.


Juni 2006
"No Room for Gerold", the new short by Daniel Nocke, starts promising. It gets the Award of Distinction for computer animation at Ars Electronica in Linz , Austria . There is also a Special Mention at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and a Jury prize at "Shorts at Moonlight" in Hofheim.


September 2005
Music Video "Walkampf" wins the Grand Prize for commissioned animation at Ottawa Animation Festival.


June 2005
Animated Film Festival Annecy, in competition: "Le Couloir", our coproduktion with french
studio Folimage, und "Walkampf", pop video for "Die Toten Hosen".


October 2004
We completed our second video for the German punk band, Die Toten Hosen. The video, for the song "Walkampf", is directed by Andreas Hykade who, in 1996, directed the highly successful video "Zehn kleine Jägermeister" for the same band.

The longed-for trilogy Intolerance by Phil Mulloy is completed. FILM BILDER exclusively publishes a DVD with all three parts: "Intolerance", "The Invasion" und "The Final Solution". Order the prize winning trilogy here!

Studio FILM BILDER is celebrating its 15th anniversary. In the framework of the International Animation Festival Stuttgart, there is a colourful revue with premieres of the films "Great is the Mystery of Godliness" and "The Final Solution" as well as lots of live surprises.

Studio Film Bilder has finished two remarkable new short film productions: "Great is the Mystery of Godliness" by Louis Zoller and "The Final Solution" by Phil Mulloy.


May 2003
Andreas Hykade´s "Tom and the slice of bread with strawberry jam and honey" got the Animago Award for the best interactive short film. - Work on the first four instalments of the "Tom" TV series is completed. German broadcaster SWR co-produces the flash-animated series. A further nine episodes are currently in the pipeline, scheduled to be ready for broadcast beginning of next year.

Andreas Hykade´s interactive cartoon for children, "Tom and the slice of bread with strawberry jam and honey", premieres on the Web.

We have now enhanced our 3D computer animation unit with Maya software. The new technology has already been put to good use in two projects ­ a TV commercial for dietary supplement manufacturer Basica, and a music video for "Just Us".


October 2001
A new cartoon pop star has been born. Lou the cat is the alter ego of Lou Bega. He is making his first appearance in the music video "Just a Gigolo".

In the Film Bilder studios, we are currently celebrating the premieres of the German versions of Celebrity Deathmatch on MTV. Find out how they were made here.

The all-new Film Bilder Website goes live.

Film Bilder is commissioned to make eleven episodes of the cult series "Celebrity Deathmatch" for MTV Germany. Leading German personalities fight it out in the boxing ring - in plasticine.


August 2000
Andreas Hykade's Ring of Fire wins the Grand Prix at the Ottawa animated film festival. The film has now garnered eleven prizes.


June to September 2000
Zukunftsvisionen, an animated film shown on eight screens, was part of the main show at the German pavilion at Expo 2000.
